The days of our summer paddle across Joppa Flats were a distant memory last night in Amesbury. Twenty-one out of twenty-five GovsPLUS students braved the arctic chill to enjoy an evening of winter tubing fun at Amesbury Sports Park. The event, which was organized by the Academy’s Dean of Students, was a fun activity for Govs students on the eve of the school’s community-wide museum day. GovsPLUS students gathered for a pizza dinner in the lodge before flocking to the frozen slopes alongside Govs students for the rush of an icy run down the varying paths. As one GovsPLUS student commented, the event was “so much fun and so much cold!”
GovsPLUS is looking forward to its next community event — a day of service in honor of Earth Day organized by Groundwork Lawrence on April 26. Those interested should mark the date on their calendars, because we hope that GovsPLUS family and friends will work alongside us on this special day of giving back!
In the meantime, stay warm, GovsPLUS! 🙂
