After nearly 2 months away from each other, GovsPLUS students came together again today for the first of many year-round experiences together and spent a beautiful fall morning on The Governor’s Academy’s ropes course.
Ms. Fitzgerald, Govs Dean of Faculty and resident ropes course expert, made an encore appearance to lead today’s workshop on the low elements.
With student-instructors Brett, Jalina, and Paola all off on their next adventures (we miss you guys!!!), a new crop of Govs students jumped in to get to know and play with the the GovsPLUS students.
Seniors Mike Fogarty, Charles Odei, Jenna Nee, and Emilie MacDonald utilized their training to run the elements while juniors Ashley Portorreal, Nora Bradford, and Abby Katz jumped in right in alongside the students to cheer them on and debrief the experience with them. Of course Ariel was right back with the students too!
Students tried their hand at low elements like the “Peanut Butter Pit” and the “Whale Watch”, before heading back to the dining hall for a pizza lunch together.
It was a terrific day together and a great way to launch the year-round GovsPLUS programming. We are looking forward to our next event together, an art workshop at the Essex Art Center in Lawrence on October 12! Can’t wait to see you all then!
